How can I offer up this longing?
What does it look like when I give this maddening incessant quest to Belong and find my place amongst things away?
Perhaps this means that I can then give everything a place.
That I become the Home for all things.
When I open the door, I find there is the welcome of a solid kitchen table on which are placed steaming bowls of earthy heart-broth, and the air is alive with the scent of freshly baked bread reminding visitors, even if just for a brief while, of what is truly good and innocent and whole.
There’s a creaky old wooden rocking chair cosying up peacefully by the Aga, which laments in almost-forgotten lullabies of wood-song when you rest back into it. The deep red embers of the furnace radiate with the unwavering heat of Presence, burning steadily through even the deepest, darkest, coldest of nights. The fire that never goes out, the heart that never retreats.
There is just an embrace of the most simple compassion here, and the warming womb of softening relaxed joy and quietly courageous tenderness… the ecstasy of Being. A Home space where initiation has been passed, and the bonds of suffering loosened, where scars heal with care and live enough to retell the power of their truth around the table, and settle down as the core resting place where intimacy and freedom synergise in harmony and balance, rather than conflict and war.
Here, there is space enough for whatever stranger lands at the door because there is nothing that can’t be met and nowhere that can’t be held. And the gentle whispers of human wisdom are born through each encounter as a story, a Seeing, a touch, as the palpable exchange of Barakah.
My longing is to be on the inside of everything, as close as I can get into the taste of the marrow until the whole world begins to turn right side out again. I want to Love so deeply til sweat drips down my back. My question is how deeply I can be Home in the bottom line of heartbreak, fracture, chaos, the broken opening and the unknown.
